Two relevant Poems

"Locked in"

This poem relates to many humans with communication issues from individuals suffering from a long term illness, Dementia, Alzheimer's or a temporary health issue due to, as an example - an operation. It also rings true for other individuals suffering from Dyslexia, Friedreich's ataxia, Autism, Asperger's and A.D.H.D, Depression, Psychosis as a few examples.

With reference to animals it relates to those with behavioural issues or for those who have been scared/scarred by events in their past.

If we could all soak the words up from this poem - like water to a sponge - many individuals would be much more content with their 'lot' in life - Please give everyone  a chance -  there is good in each and every one of us - encourage it to come out naturally.

#Depression and #Anxiety #Alzheimer's #Dementia #MentalHealth are far too common these day.

And sadly far too many individuals are making sufferers feel excluded from their Communities because of these and other #Health issues.

#Medication only solves part of some of these health issues, but can also sometimes make an individual feel even more shaky with their world around them.

It's time individuals within Communities stepped up a mark and offered friendly support to help sufferers feel part of the world again, instead of making them feel unaccepted or that they only feel safe in their own home.

Why not imagine what it must be like for #MentalHealth Sufferers and offer to accompany them on a peaceful walk, or say good morning to who ever you meet on the street. A #smile goes a long long way and is free to give and an extremely welcomed vision to receive.

#Mentalhealth Sufferers are not like individuals with a broken leg who have a clearly visible Plaster cast covering their break. #Mentalhealth is invisible to the human eye, unless you are able to read the sadness in someone's walk or eyes.

To help you understand what it feels like we have included a couple of poems written by sufferers, please, take a moment to read them, it will only take up two minutes of your time but ultimately could change the life time of so many people.

On behalf of those who are #lockedin, #scared, #anxious Thank you.

How some humans and animals feel

(before)

"I am captured in the carousel of time,
I don't understand the world around me
I feel so locked in
it's as if they think I can not see,
but I see more than her or him.
I just don't know how to communicate
with the world around me
I am captured in the carousel of time.

I over react because I am misunderstood
My world is filled with anger and frustration.
I so wish to show the world that I can be good,
But the world doesn't seem to want a connection,
I am fed up of rejection.

So few people give me the time of day
Maybe one in a hundred understand me
but the others push me out the way.
How long is it going to take to make them see
I just need to be guided in the right way.
I need time and the right key to unlock me.

(after)

At long last I have found someone (some people)
who can turn my key,
I feel free of the demon
when I am with them
For the first time -
I can breathe, I feel free.

I have a chance to smile when I am with them
I have found what makes me happy,
For the first time ever I feel as I am in heaven,
I have laughed and smiled all day
And the devil inside my has run away.

(for the rest of the world)

Please, come and share this happy day with me
And let me show you what turns my key.
I so want to stop serving the devil inside me
But I need the world to show me the way.

I don't ask for much,
Just a little time, understanding
care and attention,
I am fed up of rejection.

There's a lot of good inside me,
But how long is it going to take
For the rest of the world to understand me.
I am tired, I am weary and I need a break.
The demon inside controls me
I want to break free for ever,
but I need the world to help me,
So please, don't baffle me with words,
just watch and listen
and that will help me "

We were given the next Poem by a wonderful gentleman who suffered from Fredreich's Ataxia. We had the absolute pleasure of helping him for a good number of years but sadly he has since passed away. We re-found this poem and on behalf of him and with many happy memories we would like to share it with you all

BLESSINGS FROM A DISABLED PERSON

Blessed are you who take time to listen to difficult speech
for you help me to know that if I persevere
I can be understood.

Blessed are you who never ask me to hurry up
or take my tasks from me to do them for me
for often I need time rather than help.

Blessed are you who stand beside me
as I enter new and untried ventures
For my failures will be outweighed
by the times I surprise myself and you.

Blessed are you who ask for my help
For my greatest need is to be needed.

Blessed are you who understand
that it is difficult for me to put my
thoughts in to words.

Blessed are you who respect me
and love me as I am
Just as I am
and not as you wish I were.

Brian we miss you and just a wee note to say we have taken your poem to heart and have carried out your main wish in life.

Thank you

For additional help or support perhaps the following link might help -

On behalf of all those who suffer thank you for taking time to read the above and we hope it will allow you and your families to adapt to what the sufferer has had no option but to adapt to.

Thank you
